Amanda has 8+ years of experience working in a special education school and in a pediatric outpatient medical center evaluating and treating children with a variety of medical diagnoses and speech/language disorders such as autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, childhood apraxia of speech, fluency disorders, language-based disorders, articulation/phonological disorders, and feeding disorders. Amanda was a member of an autism diagnostic team and  apraxia task force. She also has experience presenting at various parent workshops as well as mentoring graduate students in the clinical setting.

After having children, Amanda decided to open FUNctional Speech + Language LLC to bring both her experience as a mom and as a therapist into the home environment where a child can learn how to communicate effectively in the most comfortable setting. Amanda is passionate about partnering with parents and coaching them to make sure they can help their child carryover the skills learned in therapy and strengthen family interaction.
